Willard H. Forristall

Willard H. Forristall, 95, of West Hartford, died on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at his home. He was born March 12, 1923 in Simsbury, CT. He lived in West Hartford since 1935. He was a graduate of the old Hall High School and the United States Merchant Marine Academy as a 3rd Officer during World War II and received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Coast Guard. He spent 42 years in the insurance business. He retired in 1988 from the Great American Insurance Co. where he was a territory manager for personal lines. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of West Hartford, serving on the Board of the Trustees and the Board of Deacons, also an Assistant Treasurer. He was a member of the Wyllis St. Johns Lodge No 44 AF & AM and the West Hartford Regents. Besides his wife Jean Hurlbert Forristall, he leaves two sons, Richard H. Forristall and his wife Rhonda of Deep River, James H. Forristall and his wife Linda of Colchester, a daughter Joy Forristall Hancock of Wethersfield; grandchildren, Robin F. Ashton and her husband Charles of RI, Richard H. Forristall, Jr. and his wife Christina of Killingworth, Heather Sikora and her husband Behn of Newington, Ashley Forristall of Farmington, James W. Forristall of Hartford, Katie Jean Giovannucci and her husband Charles of Wethersfield, Jeanette Craven and her husband Allen of AL, Willard Hancock of WA; his great grandchildren, Charles Ashton, Jr., Hadley Sikora, Olive and Hazel Forristall, Bradley and Derek Giovannucci. He also leaves a sister-in-law Sally Hurlbert of Avon. He was predeceased by his sisters Lucretia Pierce, Elizabeth Griswold and a brother-in-law Gordon C. Hurlbert, Sr. Will enjoyed his years at Millstone Point and later at Hawkes Nest Beach with the whole family. He also enjoyed bowling on different leagues. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. A graveside service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Ave., West Hartford.
