Thomas H. Tamoney

Thomas Henry Tamoney, 92, of West Hartford, CT, beloved husband of sixty-two years to Mary Ahern Tamoney (recently deceased) died peacefully on August 20, 2012 at St. Mary Home in West Hartford. Tom was born in Hartford on April 3, 1920 and was the older son of the late Henry J. and Mary Gallagher Tamoney. He was a graduate of Hall High School, Trinity College, Harvard Business School and the University of Connecticut School of Law. Tom was a founding partner of the law firm of Danaher, Lewis and Tamoney, taught tax and estate planning law at the University of Connecticut School of Law and was an active member of the Hartford Estate Planning Council for many years. He was also President of the West Hartford Kiwanis Club and a Paul Harris Fellow as a member of the Hartford Rotary Club. In addition, Tom was President of the West Hartford Taxpayers Association, a Member of the Old Guard of West Hartford and delivered Meals on Wheels in West Hartford until he was 90. A founding parishioner of Saint Peter Claver Church, Tom was a lector there for many years. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family. He is survived by four children and their spouses: Thomas H. Tamoney, Jr. and his wife Celie of Darien, CT; Deborah T. Metzler and her husband Robert of West Hartford, CT; Andrew A. Tamoney and his wife Susan of Weston, MA; and Margot T. Marenakos and her husband Steven of Bloomfield, CT. He also leaves eight cherished grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford, CT. Prior to the Mass, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., Tom’s family will receive family and friends at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06119. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the caregivers from both St. Mary Home and Companions & Homemakers.
