Robert F. Downey

DOWNEY, Robert F. Atty. Robert F. Downey, 93, of West Hartford, died Wednesday Dec. 19, 2007. Born in Hartford, the son of the late James Louis and Mary Conway Downey, he had lived in West Hartford most of his life. He was a graduate of Wm. H. Hall High School 1931, The College of the Holy Cross 1935, and the Hartford College of Law 1938, now the University of Connecticut School of Law. Bob worked as an attorney for the Veteran s Administration for most of his career. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Ardennes, Central Europe, Northern France, the Rhineland and the Battle of the Bulge. His is survived by his sister Dorothy Downey Heneage of West Hartford; his nieces, nephews and their children; Nina Heneage Helms, her husband Gary of Holden Beach, NC and their children Stephen, Craig and Robert; Melinda Heneage Larson, her husband Erick of Ft. Collins, CO and their children Curt Larson and Mark Larson, his wife Jennifer and their daughter Alexandra; Harry Robert Heneage III his wife Solamee of Driggs, ID and their daughter Tierney; Dr. James L. Downey, his wife Sally of Chicago, IL and children Marion, Kim and Sarah; Robert N. Downey, his wife Nancy of NYC and their children Anne, Elizabeth, Nathan and D. Jackson; Stephen M. Downey, his wife KT of NYC and children Rebecca, Christina, Jennifer, Eleanor and James; Paul A Downey, his wife Dr. Hallie Beacham of San Francisco, CA, and children Paul, Robert, Kathryn and Kristen; Eleanor Downey, her husband Jay Cooper of NYC and son James Martinez; Caroline Downey, her husband Stewart Abrams of NYC and their children Alexandra and Stephen. He also leaves his late niece s children, Hillary, Molly and Jay Anderson of San Francisco, CA. Marion Downey of Avon also survives him. He was predeceased by his brother James E. Downey and his niece Kathleen Heneage Anderson Foster. The funeral will be Saturday Dec. 22nd at 10:30 a.m. from the Molloy Funeral Home 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford, with a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, West Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
