Mark A. Asmar

Mark A. Asmar Esq., 64, of West Simsbury, beloved husband of 40 years of Linda Steinfeld Asmar, died Monday September 28, 2009 in Boston surrounded by his loving family. Born in Danbury, son of Eva and the late Abdon Asmar, he attended Danbury High School and Indiana University where he was once president of the Chi Phi fraternity, before receiving his JD from UCONN Law. Having enjoyed a prestigious career as a real estate attorney, Mark was most recently the head of that department in the Hartford office of the law firm of Brown Rudnick. He was also a member of both the American Bar Association, and the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. Mark fostered a commitment to honesty and integrity, always keeping his word. He treasured relationships developed both professionally and personally. A kind and generous man Mark volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and St. Catherine of Siena Church. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and son, in addition to his wife and mother he is survived by three children and their spouses: Jeffrey and his wife Jennifer of Canton, Rebecca of Portland, OR, Sarah and her husband Joshua Kohl, of Simsbury. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren Grace and Noah, his sister Barbara and her husband Phillip Bistany of Massachusetts, his nieces Elizabeth Godfrey and Katherine DiStefano, two great nieces Bistany, Hannah, and a great nephew, Jacob. His cousin Joseph Sabbagh and wife Carmel Zhao of California also survive him. Funeral services will be Thursday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in the Church of St. Catherine of Siena, 265 Stratton Brook Rd. West Simsbury, CT 06092. Burial will follow in Kol Haverim Cemetery Jordan Lane Extension in Wethersfield. There will be no calling hours. Molloy Funeral Home, West Hartford has care of the arrangements. The family will receive friends during mourning at the home of Mark and Linda with an evening service led by Rabbi Small at 7:30 pm. Considering Mark and Linda's strong connection to their respective faiths, donations may be made in his name to St. Catherine of Siena Church, or Emanuel Synagogue 160 Mohegan Dr. West Hartford, CT 06117 or Tufts Medical Center, Division of Transplant Surgery, 800 Washington St, Box # 231, Boston, MA 02111. Also, to honor his life please consider becoming an organ donor. Mark will be forever remembered by those with whom he shared his life.
