Margaret Dillon

DILLON, Margaret Walsh Margaret Walsh Dillon, 90, entered into her eternal reward surrounded by her family on Monday, June 13, 2005. ?Peg?, as she was known, was the daughter of Catherine G. Whalen and Patrick J. Walsh, of Waterford, Ireland. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph R. Dillon, and her sister, Ann Walsh Carmody. She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Dillon Cocchiola and her husband, Philip of West Hartford, and Jane Ellen Collins and her husband, Joseph of Fairfield. She was the devoted Nana of six grandchildren, Bridget Berry Dujardin and her husband, Philip of Dorchester, MA; Caitlin L. Berry of Seattle, WA; and Peter Matthew Berry and his wife, Anne of Baltimore, MD; J. Dillon Collins, Courtney E. Collins, and Kiernan G. Collins all of Fairfield; and a great-granddaughter, Maeve Catherine Dujardin. She is also survived by her beloved sister and life-long friend, Mary Walsh Ryter of West Hartford; and several nieces and nephews, who were an important part of her life. She was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy and St. Joseph College. Peg returned to ?The Mount? as a resident of Hamilton Heights Assisted Living Facility for her last few years. Peg loved to share stories of her life in Washington, DC, where she worked in the mid-1940?s as an assistant to her brother-in-law, the late Congressman Joseph F. Ryter. Peg enjoyed traveling with her family and her two sisters. Summers spent at Old Lyme Shores, and her journeys to Skytop, PA, provided some of her most treasured memories. Peg was a member of the Sow and Show Garden Club, Metropolitan Women?s Club, the West Hartford Belles, and the Bridge Club. She loved to cook, read, and garden. She and her husband, Joseph, were among the founding members of the Church of St. Timothy in West Hartford, where she remained a parishioner until the time of her death. The funeral will be held, Friday, June 17, from the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, at 11:30 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at the Church of St. Timothy, 1116 North Main Street, West Hartford. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends and family may call Thursday, from 5-7 p. m., and again Friday morning from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
