Joseph Anthony Cassarino Jr.

Joseph Anthony Cassarino Jr., 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2025. The son of Joseph and Mary Cassarino, Joseph Anthony grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut. He was born on September 2, 1943, and attended William H. Hall High School in West Hartford, Connecticut where he was a standout football running back and baseball pitcher. He also pitched for the West Hartford Legion for several years where he helped lead the team to great success. Joseph Anthony was also an accomplished trumpet player and performed in a variety of bands and ensembles in his high school and college years following in his father’s footsteps. A graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts, Joseph Anthony earned a degree in Engineering. On June 17, 1963, he began work at Combustion Engineering in the Boiler & Machinery division which later became ABB Alstom Power Services. He worked his way up from draftsman to eventually lead the Pressure Parts division and retired after 40 years of dedicated service. Joseph Anthony was an avid sports fan, had a passion for classic Corvettes and Thunderbirds, and was happiest on the sideline or in the concert hall supporting his children and grandchildren as they pursued their passions for sports, music, and theater. Joseph Anthony is preceded in death by his father Joseph Anthony Cassarino Sr. and mother Mary Palermo Cassarino. He leaves a devoted sister, Sandra Erickson of Bristol, Connecticut, her spouse and brother-in-law Eric Erickson of Bristol, Connecticut; and, with Elizabeth Lauretti Forand, sons Joseph Anthony Cassarino III of Durham, Connecticut and Scott Michael Cassarino of Unionville, Connecticut; daughter-in-law Julienne Cassarino; and grandchildren Sophie Cassarino, Dominic Cassarino, Nicholas Cassarino, and Anthony Cassarino; and great-grandchild Colter Cassarino; along with a host of loving extended family members. Calling hours will be held at Molloy Funeral Home in West Hartford, Connecticut on Saturday, March 8, 2025, beginning at 9:00am, with a church service to follow at 10:00am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in West Hartford, Connecticut, and burial services to follow beginning at approximately 11:30am at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford, Connecticut. A reception will follow at approximately 12:00pm at Rockledge Golf Club also in West Hartford, Connecticut.
