Elaine Richard

Elaine Richard, 76, of West Hartford, beloved wife of 53 years to Francis Richard passed away surrounded by family in her home on Thursday, May 25, 2023. Born in Hartford, CT she is predeceased by her Mother Isabelle Fagan, and her brother and sister in law Robert and Joan Fagan of Florida and brother Edward Fagan who is survived by his wife Nina Fagan of Bloomfield; niece Deborah Quinlan, and is survived by her husband Dave Quinlan who resides in Maine. Elaine is survived by daughters Elizabeth (Richard) and husband Eric Glasier of West Hartford, Karen (Richard) and husband William Wilshire of Bedford, New Hampshire. She also leaves behind niece Carolyn and her husband Earl Severing, as well as a nephew, James Fagan and partner Paul Schuetz. Elaine’s grandchildren; the Wilshire children Tyler, Ashlyn, Mary Kate and Brinley of Bedford, New Hampshire and the Glasier grandchildren, Sarah, Emma and David of West Hartford, CT. Elaine graduated from Wethersfield High school in 1964 and later pursued her bachelors degree at CCSU with a degree in psychology and shortly after, received her Masters Degree from St Joseph College in Human Development and Gerontology. Elaine worked at People’s Bank from 1984-2000; she also worked at Seabury and Duncaster serving as a personal assistant to residents toward the later part of her career. Elaine took great pride in helping others in a variety of ways, specifically making quilts for charity, knitting beanies for preemies and prayer shawls for the sick and elderly. Elaine enjoyed many Disney trips with her family over the years as well as traveling the western part of the U.S. with Fran. When not traveling Elaine could be found in her sewing room turning out beautiful works of art in a multitude of crafts, including quilting, weaving, spinning yarn and knitting with her closest friends. Elaine valued her time with friends and looked forward to Saturdays at Panera knitting and Friday night Zooms with her amazingly loving friends. It was making memories with her husband, children, grandchildren, and girlfriends as well as her hobbies that brought Elaine great joy. Her family would like to thank all the home health and hospice nurses and staff with Masonicare who cared so lovingly for her these past few months. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 11th at the Molloy Funeral Home 906 Farmington Ave. in West Hartford from 4-7 PM. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Elaine on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 10 AM at St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant St. in West Hartford. It will immediately be followed by a graveside burial ceremony at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider making a donation to Masonicare Home Health and Hospice Services.
