Edwina Tracy (Lynch) Bosco

Edwina Tracy (Lynch) Bosco, 92, long-time resident of West Hartford, CT, and beloved wife to the late Cosimo J. Bosco, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2021, after a long, rich life. She will be remembered by her family, friends, and colleagues for her vibrant spirit, her wit and humor, her endless curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, her insatiable appetite for travel and exploration, and her love of conversing with family and friends. She was born to Timothy and Mary Dorothy (Tracy) Lynch on December 11, 1928, in Springfield, MA and raised in Waterbury, CT. Edwina attended Saint Joseph's College, West Hartford, CT; St. Francis Hospital School of Medical Technology (Class of 1950); and the University of Hartford, Hartford, CT (Class of 1956). She began her professional career in the 1950s at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT, in Hematology-Oncology; in the 1980s at UConn Health Center, Farmington, CT in Cytogenetics; and, in the 1990s at Prenatal Diagnostics Center in Lexington, MA. She served as the Connecticut State President of the American Society for Medical Technology (now ASCLS), and in 2000 she received recognition from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists for her 50-year certification at a ceremony held in San Francisco, CA. While working at St. Francis Hospital, Edwina made life-long friends and attended a party where she met the love of her life, Cosimo J. Bosco. They were married in 1956 and had a life filled with love, laughter, and friendship until he pre-deceased her in 2015. Together, they lived in Warehouse Point, West Suffield, and West Hartford, CT. Following Cosimo’s retirement from Hamilton Standard in 1987, they moved to Lexington, MA where Cosimo launched his second career with the Federal Aviation Administration. They lived a wonderful life in the Boston area enjoying cultural and historical activities before returning to their West Hartford home in 2000. They loved travelling and made friends of all ages in the many places they visited in the US and abroad. In her later years, Edwina enjoyed time at her cottage in Haddam, CT where she found peace and fellowship with the Camp Bethel community on the Connecticut River. Edwina was an active parishioner at St. James’s Episcopal Church, West Hartford, CT and earlier at St. Thomas the Apostle, where her children attended school. At St. James’s, Edwina was a member of the Women of St. James's, the Adult Choir, and active in other ministries of the parish. Her interests included art history, choral singing, and classical music. She played piano, harpsichord, and classical recorder, performing with choral and recorder groups based in Connecticut and Massachusetts. She was proud to have completed Docent training and served as a Docent at the New Britain Museum of American Art. She was also interested in genealogy, tracing the history of her family from County Kerry, Ireland. Edwina is survived by her six devoted children and their families: Paul and Diane Bosco of Concord, MA; Carol and Tim Dymek, DMD, of Gardner and Osterville, MA; Mary and Andrew Clarke of West Hartford, CT; John Bosco of Wakefield, MA; Patricia and Dan O’Malley of Haddam, CT; and Clare and John McAndrew of Pleasantville, NY. Edwina also held in her heart Tim and Elke Amos of Dulwich, England, and Deborah Warren-Smith of Australia and NYC, known by Edwina’s children as their Euro-Sibs. Her loss is also deeply felt by her fourteen grandchildren: Paul Bosco, Jr., Kasja Dymek, Teagan Dymek, John Francis Clarke, Michael Clarke, Grace Clarke, Rose Clarke, Anna-Nicole (Nikki) Bosco, Mia O’Malley Jaques and her husband Sean Jaques, Laura O’Malley and Paul Coulter, Bridget O’Malley Kot and her husband Lucas Kot, Daniel O’Malley, Jr. and his wife Kim O’Malley, J. Owen McAndrew, and Nolan McAndrew, as well as by her great-grandchild, Ivan Jaques. Edwina’s family would like to thank her UConn Health and Seasons Hospice Teams, and the caring associates at Seabury in Bloomfield, CT, where she had most recently resided. A memorial service will be held at St. James's Episcopal Church on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11 a.m. (Livestream will be made available for those unable to travel.) Interment in Fairview Cemetery for both Edwina and Cosimo Bosco will follow Edwina’s service. Service details may be found at www.molloyfuneralhome.com.
