Chuck Metcalfe

Charles (Chuck) William Metcalfe, age 78, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026. He was born on October 10, 1947, in Hartford, Connecticut. Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Army, including time overseas during the Vietnam War as a Military Policeman. Following his service, he built a long and steady career as a Salesman at Electrical Wholesalers, where he worked for 34 years before retiring in 2019. He was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures—chocolate milk, puzzles, family reunions, and spending time outdoors. Whether hiking, camping, or quietly watching birds, Chuck appreciated the beauty of nature and the comfort of being surrounded by those he loved. Chuck was a loyal and attentive presence in his family and friend’s lives, rarely missing a Little League or baseball game and always showing up with unwavering support and pride. He will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and the love he had for his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Above all, Chuck was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Oralie of 31 years until her passing in 2024. He was a proud and dedicated father to Jason (Sheila), Timothy (Soledad), and Amber (John), and a loving grandfather to Michaela, Brayden, Nathan, Jakson and John Noah. He and his siblings, George and Trudi, shared a strong bond rooted in love, support, and shared memories. They were close in age, close in heart, and best friends. He leaves behind his loving nieces and nephews, lifelong friends who became family, and his beloved cat Mocha. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents, George and Gertrude, and his big brother George. The family would like to thank that staff at Amberwoods of Farmington and Masonic Care for the exceptional care and support they provided. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 12, at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave. W. Hartford with visitation from 10-11 am followed by a prayer service. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the US Department of Veterans Affairs or the National Park Foundation.
