Christine Mackesy-Kean

Christine Mackesy-Kean, 53, of West Hartford, CT died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 7th, 2016. Beloved spouse for 23 years of Jay Kean and devoted mother of Jake and Eileen Kean. She was a wonderful daughter-in-law to Lucille and Jack Kean of Farmington, CT and beloved daughter of the late Eileen and Jerry Mackesy. Christine was born on Long Island, NY but her family settled in Cheshire, CT for her 6-12 grades. She received a B.A. in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Boston and a B.S. in Fine Art from Northestern University in 1985. Christine then had a long successful career in Advertising and Marketing as the Art Director at Elkinson & Sloves in Farmington, CT. Her passion was for her family and her children’s activities including elementary through high school. Recently, she worked on the Governance Council, After Graduation Party Committee, Robotics Team and PTO at the University High School of Science & Engineering. She also advocated for STEM education clearly seeing the benefits it has provided to her own two amazing children. She loved little babies! Christine leaves behind a beloved husband, Jay Kean of West Hartford; a son, Jake Kean, a sophomore, at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University; a daughter, Eileen Kean, a senior at University High School of Science & Engineering. She leaves a sister and brother-in-law, Jereen and Michael Gilbert and their children Steven and Jackie of Pleasanton, CA; a brother, Jerome Mackesy and his sons Jared and Jack of Londonderry, NH; Brother-in-law Tom and Lisa Kean and their children, Todd, Maggie and Nora; sister-in-law Lisa and Bob Bannon and their children, Quinn, Shane, Maddie and Shelby. Chris leaves aunts and uncles, Virginia Stewart; Nora and Dan Massiello; Dick and Alice Walsh. She is predeceased by uncle Art Stewart, uncle Bill McDermott, aunt Regina McDermott and cousin Billy McDermott. She leaves her dear cousins, Will Stewart, John McDermott, Peggy McDermott, Jennifer Ryan, Jim McDermott, Susan Krastel, Danielle Ravens, Ann Walsh and Justine Routhier. Her family will receive friends at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Avenue in West Hartford on Tuesday, September 13th, 2016 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. There will be a private service for family. Chris will be cremated and interned in an artificial reef as was her desire to promote life from her loss.
