Christine Liebig

LIEBIG, Christine Christine C. Liebig, 84, a resident of West Hartford since 1959, died peacefully Wednesday, April 26, 2006, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Montclair, NJ, on July 13, 1921, she was the daughter of Andrew M. and Christine O'Brien Mau. She grew up in Verona, NJ and graduated from Montclair State Teachers' College. On Feb. 23, 1946, she married Preston D. Liebig and they enjoyed over 60 years of marriage together. She was an active member of St. Peter Claver Church. For the past 20 years, she worked as the morning receptionist at Kingswood-Oxford School. She will always be remembered for her compassion, kindness, great sense of humor, love of sports especially the UConn Women Huskies, and above all, her devotion to her family. She is survived by her husband, Preston D. Liebig of West Hartford; six children, Paul D. Liebig of Manchester, Ann and Gil Fahey of Manchester, Steven and Denise Liebig of Cromwell, Jane and Ted Carroll of Hartford, Mary Liebig and Jack Hilditch of Manchester, and Christopher Liebig and Carolyn Turvey of Iowa City, IA; eight grandchildren, Kati and Brian Hills of Bolton, Jennifer and Benjamin Liebig of Manchester, Meaghan and Emily Carroll of Hartford, and Mary, Sonja, and Erin Liebig of Iowa City, IA; a newborn great-grandchild, Madelyn Hills of Bolton, whom she saw and held just weeks before she died; her sister, Ann Leuzarder of Kittery Point, ME; her brother Andrew M. Mau Jr. of Montclair, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Patricia Eileen, and a sister, Mary E. Mau. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the 8th Floor Oncology Unit at St. Francis Hospital for their compassionate care and dedication. Funeral services will be Monday, May 1, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford. Calling hours will be Sunday, April 30, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Burial will be private.
