Barbara H. Lee

Barbara Horrigan Lee, 95, of 4413 Saint Andres Circle, Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Bloomfield and Meriden, CT., died peacefully Friday, December 2, 2005. Born in Meriden, CT on November 14, 1910, she was the daughter of Rose Kearney Horrigan and Thomas James Horrigan. She was the wife of the late W. Wallace Lee, Sr. who died in 1984. They had been married in Meriden on November 26, 1931. Barbara was educated at St. Rose of Lima School and Meriden High School, class on 1928. She attended Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, class of 1932 and also attended The Katherine Gibbs School in Providence, RI. Barbara was predeceased by sisters Justine Hampp of Meriden CT., Rosalie Vickstrom and Alyce Laich of Branford, CT. her brother Thomas R. Horrigan, of Meriden, her son Kevin of Vermont, son in law Robert Dickinson of Nevada, her grandson, Jordan Dickinson of Nevada, and great granddaughter, Michelle Lee of Rhode Island. Barbara was active in many groups while residing in Meriden, including Drama, bowling, and her church. While living in Bloomfield she was an officer of the Woman?s Auxiliary of the Hartford Rehabilitation Center, played in many bridge groups, was a member of the Bloomfield Garden Club, participated in book clubs and supported Sacred Heart Church in many ways. Over the years she was a member of many PTA groups, and helped generously with Boy and Girl Scout troops, followed later on with various college parent associations. She was always ready for a trip and enjoyed greatly visiting her children around the country and followed closely all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by two loving daughters, Shelia Dickinson of Las Vegas, with whom she spent her final years, Betsy Swartz and her husband Michael, of Southborough, MA, and two loving sons, B. Thomas Lee of Bloomfield, CT and Lt. Col. Ret W. Wallace Lee, Jr. and his wife Ann of Waterford, CT. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Scott Dickinson Patti of Virginia, USAF Col. Ian Dickenson Jennifer of California, Robin Dickinson-Cepler of Las Vegas, Barbara Swartz of San Diego, Steven Swartz of Boston, Ma, Gregory Swartz of New York, Donald Lee of Hartford, and William W. Lee III Margaret, Cathy Rapoport, Steven Lee Alice, Nancy Gonzalez Ricky, and Peter Lee Dana all of CT. Barbara also leaves 21 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Barbara was cremated in Las Vegas, where a memorial service was held on Monday, December 5 by her many friends and family. A mass celebrating her long and active life will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Wintonbury Ave. Bloomfield, CT Burial will follow in Mt. Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford, CT is in charge of arrangements.
