Barbara Ann Conway (Prior) (Brickley)

Barbara Ann (Prior) (Brickley) Conway, 92, formerly of West Hartford CT; passed peacefully on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the UConn Health Center in Farmington, CT. Born in Providence, RI on June 15th 1929, the daughter of the late Lawrence Burns Prior and Anna Theresa (Kneiss) Prior, she had been a resident of West Hartford, living at Brookdale Chatfield. She is predeceased by her husband John F. Conway of West Hartford, CT. Barbara was an independent and self-motivated person. That led her to a career as a Real Estate Broker specializing in new home construction for many years. She was one of the first brokers to sell a condominium complex in Connecticut. She was the former V.P. of Sales for I.R. Stich Associates and also represented Rocky Hill Enterprises in later years. Barbara helped many families purchase a new home or condominium throughout the greater Hartford area helping them achieve a better life. A truly successful business woman at a time when it was uncommon. Known for her sunny smile and outgoing personality she was one of the most unselfish people you could meet. A wonderful mother and grandmother her love, wisdom, insight and guidance will be sorely missed. A graduate of Blessed Sacrament School, she was also a long time member of St. Thomas the Apostle parish and strongly believed in her Catholic faith. She was a former member of the West Hartford Music & Arts club. Barbara is survived by her son, Arthur W. Brickley and his wife Mary of Bloomfield, CT; her three grandsons and three great-grandchildren:, John Brickley and his wife Jennifer of Southington, CT and their daughter Violet; Kevin Brickley and his wife Paetra of Toronto, Canada and their children Aurora and Arthur; and Michael Brickley of Bloomfield, CT. I would like to personally thank the staff of Brookdale Chatfield and UConn Hospital for their kindness, treatment and support during my mother’s care. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, followed by burial at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT.
