Amy Smith Angelastro

Amy Smith Angelastro, 39, beloved and precious daughter of Arlene ?Ming? Angelastro of West Hartford and Anthony Angelastro of Vero Beach, FL, died Sunday, February 25, 2007, at her home. Amy attended West Hartford schools and graduated from the University of Connecticut. Amy loved life and put her all into everything; her work as an outplacement executive; her travels and most of all, her friends. Amy eventually moved to Southern California. She embraced her life there, surrounding herself with more friends and fun. She was always full of entertaining stories of her good times in California and her work as a talent agent for foreign actors. It is also in California where Amy was diagnosed with cancer. She battled the disease tenaciously, as was her style. She continued to be with her friends and to travel worldwide. Most importantly, she made plans for her future. Amy returned to West Hartford in the summer of 2005 and with the same determination and will to continue her fight against cancer. Her will and spirit were aided by many of the doctors and staff of St. Francis Cancer Center. Amy?s mother expressly wishes to specifically thank Dr. Bilgrami and nurse Elaine and all of the staff of St. Francis Cancer Center for their extraordinary care of Amy. The staff of the St. Francis Hospice office was instrumental in providing comfort and care. Their service was extremely appreciated. Amy?s friends have sustained her through their constant love and support. Our thanks to so many who visited, wrote cards and called often. Amy loved her friends very much and treasured all of her friendships. Ming wished to thank her many friends and neighbors for their constant hope, love and support. Amy is also survived by her sister, Susan and her husband, Robert Hodakowski; her sister Lynn Carr and her husband, Jim; her nephews Neal and Henry Carr; her uncle Ted Smith and Aunts Camille and Mary Angelastro and Jeanne Migliore; many cousins, especially Donna Hewett. Amy was predeceased by her devoted maternal grandparents of Canaan, Maine. The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford. Calling hours are Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in Amy?s memory to the St. Francis Cancer Center, 114 Woodland St. Hartford, CT 06105.
