Alyce D. Knapp

Alyce Davis Knapp, age 45, passed from this life to the next after an extended illness on Tuesday June 22, 2010. Alyce is survived by her husband John Knapp of West Hartford; daughters Caroline Lukens and ine Knapp of West Hartford; and sons Liam Knapp and Sean Knapp of West Hartford; her father Attorney William Davis of Bloomfield; sister Carolyn Davis of Dublin, Ireland; and brother Russell Davis of West Hartford. Alyce is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews on both sides of the family, and was pre-deceased by her mother Doris Davis of Bloomfield. Alyce graduated from Saint Joseph's College in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Minors in Sociology and Gerontology. Alyce taught Computer Science at Saint Timothy Middle School in West Hartford before leaving to raise her children. Alyce and her family also want to express their sincere thanks to so many who served to give her support during her lengthy battle with cancer, especially to Cristy McNaney, her dearest friend who was by her side throughout. During her long illness, Alyce awed and inspired others with her honesty, courage, grace, openness and sense of humor. She lovingly used her own experiences to reach out and touch those around her; doctors, nurses, family, friends, and even strangers who became her sisters in the fight against breast cancer. She generously shared her firsthand knowledge in an effort to prevent others from enduring what she went through. Alyce and family also wish to convey their deepest gratitude to her medical teams in both Hartford and Boston; especially Dr. Jeffrey Walden, Dr. Timothy Hong, the nurses and practitioners at the Gray Center, Dr. Evan Fox, and Dr. Stephanie Moore. With their combined and tireless efforts, they gave her four additional years of life. Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 pm in the Church of St. Timothy, 1116 North Main St., West Hartford. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:00 am in the Church of St. Timothy. Burial will be private. Molloy Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
