Victor H. Rubino, DDS of Stuart, Florida passed away on December 10, 2020 at the glorious age of 97. Born in New Haven, CT to Frank and Margaret (Concannon) Rubino, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Margaret (Boysen) Rubino. He was the beloved father of 8 children, 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. As a young man, Vic, among many things, was an accomplished violinist, tennis player and baseball player. He represented the United States on the Junior Davis Cup team and was asked to try- out for the New York Giants. He later honorably served in WWII and the Korean War; the latter as a Captain in the Air Force. Through-out his life, Vic was an avid reader, photographer and maritime historian. His maritime works were published into several books and articles through the years. He was a dire-hard San Francisco (New York) Giants fan for his entire life. He was a graduate of Georgetown University Dental School and practiced Oral Surgery for over 30 years in the Hartford area. He invented and patented several devices to advance oral surgery and medical care. In addition to such inventions, Vic designed and constructed the Connecticut Surgery Center. The Center, on Gillette Street in Hartford, CT, was one of the first of its kind and encompassed all aspects of ambulatory surgery. During his career, Vic served as President of the New England Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and as Chief of Oral Surgery at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. A devoted Catholic, Vic served on numerous boards and received The Archdiocesan Medal of Appreciation for his many kindnesses toward Catholic Education in Hartford. He was a founding member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church and School in West Hartford, CT and later active at St. Anne’s Parish in Avon, CT. During retirement, Vic and his wife Betty loved traveling as much as being home with family and friends in Florida. He stayed active in parish life at both St. Christopher’s Parish in Hobe Sound and St. Andrew’s Parish in Stuart. He enjoyed playing golf and was known to occasionally break 80, which pleased him to no end. He was a member of Mariner Sands Country Club of Stuart, Florida and a former member of Wampanoag Country Club, West Hartford, CT. He was a wonderful and loving husband and father, a devoted and happy Catholic and a truly kind and compassionate gentleman. He was predeceased by his sons, Victor H. Rubino, Jr. and Thomas P. Rubino. He leaves his children, Margaret E. Roberts, Esq. of Farmington, CT, Fran Rubino of Stuart, FL, Deborah Carter and her husband, Larry of Austin, TX, John D.
