Tom Casper, 65, of West Hartford, died on Tuesday March 6th, after a long illness. He leaves his devoted wife of 35 years, Jane Stremlau, and beloved children, Elizabeth and Toby. Tom was born in Syracuse New York, to the late Jane and Oscar Casper. Growing up, Tom lived in East Hartford, Douglasville PA and Middletown. He Graduated from Central Catholic High School in Reading PA, and received his bachelor’s degree from Fairfield University. Tom’s spent his career in procurement and supply management. He spent many years at Combustion Engineering (ABB), and was currently working at UTC-Otis, where he had spent the last 18 years. Tom was a gentle and private person, with steely determination. He was well-known for his intense passion for, and encyclopedic knowledge of all genres of music. He had nearly equal passion for NCAA basketball play-offs, the Red Sox, and good food and wine. His great joys were watching his kids sports and coaching little league, and his dog Bailey. In addition to Jane, Elizabeth and Toby, Tom leaves three brothers, Michael of San Diego, John of Ridgefield, WA And Mark of Las Vegas. Tom treasured his sister-in- law and brother-in-law Susan and Joe Tobin, together with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are Saturday, March 10, 2018, with a memorial service at 3 p.m. at the First Church of Christ Congregational, 12 S. Main St. West Hartford. Burial will be private.
