Tobias, “Toby” P. Marranzini, 86 of Farmington, Connecticut, previously of West Hartford, and Barkhamsted, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, July 15th, at UCONN Health Center. Born November 9, 1930, he was the loving son of the late Dr. Samuel Marranzini, MD, and Marie (D’Amico) Marranzini. He was predeceased by his uncle, Peter D’Amico, and his grandmother, Louise D’Amico. He was a graduate of Weaver High School, Class of 1948, where he excelled in Track and Field. He served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1951. He was employed and retired from the Sterling Engineering Corporation in Barkhamsted. Toby was a longtime member of the Elks Club and the Greater Hartford YMCA, where he strongly believed in “daily exercise at the Gym”. Toby leaves behind his family, a dear cousin Marie Maradie, of West Hartford, her daughters, Joan and Donna Maradie of West Hartford, Gloria M. Reddy and her husband Michael of West Hartford. He also leaves his cousin Phyllis Mercadante, and his neighbors and lifelong friends, Leo and Teresa Lattizori of West Hartford, and special friends, Smitty, Enzo, Corrine, and Sylvia. The family wishes to thank the staff at Brookdale Farmington for his continued care over the last several years. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, July 20th, at 10am at St. Peter Claver, in West Hartford. No Calling hours. Burial will be immediately following Mass at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Toby’s memory, to the Greater Hartford YMCA.
