Born in Ukraine on January 1, 1936, the daughter of the late Simon and Pelagia Kluka, she made her home in Newington for more than 50 years. She was employed by Stanley Works and was an active member of the parish and choir at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church in New Britain. Besides her parents and brother, Anton Kluka, Stephany is predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Stefan Fal. She is survived by her daughter, Lesia (Fal) Winiarskyj, and granddaughters, Tetiana and Claudia, of Old Saybrook, as well as her sister, Mary Luciw, of New Britain. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law and dear friend Stefania Dubik as well as sisters- and brothers-in-law Katharine Kluka, Anton and Genia Fal, and Jaroslawa Buczko, along with many cherished nieces and nephews—Anna Luciw, Paul Kluka, Jenny and Robert Kerr, Anna Dubik, Irene Blus Yanaros, Krys and Charlie Occhi, Diane and Al DiNello, Anna Wiggins, Joanna and Paul O’Flaherty, and John Luciw. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Gladeview Healthcare Center in Old Saybrook and VITAS Hospice for their loving care. Stephany will long be remembered for her singing voice and her repertoire of favorites: “Oh, Tannenbaum,” “Le Marseillais,” and all versions of “Mnohaya Lita.” Calling hours will be Friday, May 5, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Josaphat Church, 303 Eddy Glover Blvd., New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Cemetery, Glastonbury. Maple Hill/Talarski Funeral Home has care of arrangements. Donations in Stephany’s memory may be made to the Connecticut Education Foundation, 21 Oak Street, Hartford, CT 06016, which provides clothing, toys, school supplies, scholarships, and other basic necessities for children in need.
