Rita L. Egan Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rita (Larose) Egan of West Hartford, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, relative and friend, passed away Tuesday Evening March 22, at age 90, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hartford on June 22. 1931 of the late Irene and Emilien Larose. She graduated from Mount Saint Joseph and then attended Hillyer College where she learned her shorthand skills. She married the love of her life, John Egan, in 1954, and they eventually moved to West Hartford where they lived since 1970. She is survived by her children John, Richard, Matthew and wife Lynn, Christopher and her sister Lucille Lockwood. She was preceded in death by her loving husband John, daughter Barbara and brother Rene Larose all of whom she dearly loved. Rita had two grandchildren, Matthew and Jenna Egan and many nieces and nephews. Rita always had a smile and kind words to share with everyone who knew her. Her positivity and generosity will always be remembered and greatly missed. She was the family historian, telling tales of the past and of every item in the house all of which had a meaningful story. Along with her husband, John, they managed Egan Greenhouse and Garden Center. Rita had a passion for plants, flowers and loved spending time speaking with customers. She had the gift of gab to say the least. She also enjoyed spending time with her close friends of 60+ years, “The Knitters” who somehow never produced any knitted items. A special thanks goes to the team at Hartford Hospital Comfort Care for their compassionate care giving. Calling hours will be Thursday March 31st, 6~8 PM Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Her funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, April 1st 10:00 AM at Our Lady Of Sorrows, 79 New Park Ave., Hartford, CT 06106. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery Bloomfield.
