Mark Dadlez

A man of great faith, Deacon Mark Dadlez passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family on July 29, 2018 at the age of 91. Mark was born in Pleszew, Poland on July 21, 1927 to Julian Dadlez and Zofia Remiszewski Dadlez. After the signing of the Nazi-Soviet Pact and the subsequent invasion of Poland, Mark’s father, a lieutenant colonel in the Polish army, became a prisoner of war. Mark, his mother and brothers, were deported in cattle cars to the Kazakhstani region of Siberia where they were forced into slave labor until their release in the fall of 1942. He spent his high school years in refugee camps in Persia (Iran) and British India. The recipient of a scholarship to the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, he received his degree in Economics in 1950 and married his beloved wife in 1951, Maria in Cardiff, Wales. They soon immigrated to the United States and became American citizens in 1956. Mark was fluent in six languages and became an international tax expert for several prominent Fortune 500 companies including: AMP Incorporated, Textron Corporation, and Lockheed. This profession offered him the opportunity to travel the world. Mark dedicated his life to his family and the Church, he was ordained as a deacon in the Catholic Church in 1979 and focused primarily in Polish parishes until his retirement several years ago. He earned a Masters of Arts in Theology at Providence College and was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Cursillo movement. He had special interest in Right to Life and helping refugees of all nationalities to assimilate in their new country. Mark is survived by a large and loving family, including his seven children: Peter, Christopher and wife Eileen Dadlez, Anna and husband Terry Woodall, Thaddeus and wife Julie Dadlez, John and wife Shannon Dadlez, Paul and wife Kady Dadlez, Teresa and husband Mark Vandal; his brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Anna Dadlez of Michigan; his four nieces: Eva and her husband James Mock, Ola Dadlez, Dorothy and her husband Terry Stevens, their two sons Eric and Jacob Stevens and their families and Margaret O’Brien and her daughter Kristine; his nineteen grandchildren: Laura, her husband Joe Bird and their children Aubrey and Jameson, Nina Dadlez, her husband David Kleiman and their son Nathan, Alisa Woodall, Thomas Vandal and his fiancée Erica Day, Gregory and his wife Kristyn Dadlez, Luke Dadlez, Alana Dadlez, Vanessa Dadlez, Mariah Dadlez, Jude Dadlez, Eve Dadlez, Angel Dadlez, Molly Dadlez, Peter Dadlez, Zoe Dadlez, Michael Dadlez, Joseph Dadlez, Rose Dadlez, and Matthew Dadlez. He is very much loved and will be truly missed. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 8 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford, CT. 06119. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at St. Thomas The Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, CT. at 10:00 AM on Thursday. Guests are invited to a luncheon reception at Tumblebrook Country Club following the service.
