Marien A. Kauklys Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Marien Kauklys, 98, formerly of West Hartford, died on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Avery Heights in Hartford. She was born in Hartford on October 8, 1923. Marien was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Nakceris) Kauklys, and grew up in East Hartford. She graduated from East Hartford High School and Katharine Gibbs. After early secretarial assignments in Pakistan and Turkey, Marien had a long career as legal secretary with several prominent Hartford area law firms. She volunteered with the fledgling Hartford Stage Company in the early 60s and with the West Hartford Public Library in more recent years. Marien loved books, music, theater, and travel, and was a die-hard Huskies Superfan—but most of all, she adored the beach and the soundscape of the ocean's ebb and flow. Marien is survived by her sister Agnes K Gleason; her nephew Michael Gleason, her niece Kathleen Taylor, her nephew Dan Gleason and his wife Patricia, and her dear friends Michael and Mary Flynn. Marien was preceded in death by her siblings John, Peter, Paul, and Anna. The family extends a special thanks to Holly Taylor-Fry and the wonderful staff at Avery Heights. There will be a Celebration of Marien's Life at Mount St Benedict Cemetery on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 11 a.m.
