Marguerite A. (Marge) Riley died on May 3, 2016 from complications of heart failure at the age of 99. Marge Riley is predeceased by her parents, William J. and Katherine Conner Riley, her brother and sister-in-law Laurence S. and Margaret (Peg) Sweeney Riley, brothers the Reverend William J. Riley, and Stephen M. Riley along with her niece Mary (Riley) Emswiler, and her nephews Denis N. Riley and Stephen M. Riley. She is survived by her lifelong friend, Helen T. Molloy, and her sister–in-law Irene Tierney Riley. Marge Riley had a long, fulfilling life with many accomplishments and interests. A graduate of Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, CT and Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, her career focused on academic and career counseling. She was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington DC and held a position in personnel management for four years. Upon returning to Hartford she assumed the role of administrative assistant and alumni relations at Saint Joseph College. Marge worked with the Sisters of Mercy at Saint Joseph College for the next 22 years until her retirement in 1979. Marge was an avid skier, traveler, and lifelong learner. She enjoyed music, gardening, finance, and economics. She cherished her Irish ancestry and shared her knowledge of Irish culture with enthusiasm along with the family genealogical heritage. Among the family she leaves behind are her current and future generations, nieces and nephews William L. and Sarah (Molloy) Riley, James and Mary Ann Emswiler, Margaret A. Riley, Lauren M.(Riley) and Michael Roy, and Michael S. and Gail (Savard) Riley. Included also are her grand nieces and nephews, Maura A. Riley, Daniel L. and Melissa (Hamel) Riley, Patrick J. Emswiler, Gregory L. and Malerie (Volante) Emswiler, Katherine M. Emswiler, Andrea S. Riley and her mother Theresa M. Mahoney, Brianna C. Roy and fiancé Christopher Deroche, Kayla M. Roy and fiancé Tai Burgess, Julia M. Roy, Brendan V. Riley and Nancy Crandall, Taylor L. Riley, Danielle M. Riley and Colleen M. Riley; and great grandnephews, Liam M. and Brian D. Riley and great grandniece, Isla M. Riley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church, Wintonbury Avenue, Bloomfield, CT. Interment will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home 906 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, CT.
