Lucille Flanagan of Wethersfield, widow of John Flanagan, died Sunday (February 26th). Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Timothy and Brigid (O’Shea) McCarthy, she had made her home for the past 59 years in Wethersfield. She was a retired employee of the Hartford Board of Education. Lucille is survived by her son, John Flanagan of Newington, Ellen Flanagan and her spouse, Robert Kantor of Branford, son Robert Flanagan of Wethersfield, daughter Jean Flanagan of Wethersfield, grandsons Bennet Kantor of Philadelphia and Owen Kantor of Branford. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marie Vaughan of West Hartford, Eleanor Hoar of Newington, June Perry of West Hartford and her best friend Mary Chapman of Wethersfield and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at the Wethersfield Village Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1. There are no calling hours. The Molloy Funeral Home of West Hartford is assisting with the arrangements. Lucille loved all animals, large and small in addition to disadvantaged children. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society of Newington (www.cthumane.org) or St Joseph Indian School of Chamberlain, South Dakota (www.stjo.org).
