Julie Aldrich (née Julie Ann Costanza) died peacefully, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, on July 17, 2017 in Westwood, Massachusetts. She was 79 years old. Julie is survived by her husband of 54 years, William Aldrich of Westwood, Massachusetts, (formerly of West Hartford, Connecticut,) her sister, Camille Murphy of East Dennis, Massachusetts, her two children, Patrick Aldrich and his fiancé Maureen Danisi of Salisbury, Connecticut and Abigail Aldrich Homiller and her husband Jacob, and her three grandchildren, Emily, William and Olivia Homiller, all of Westwood, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her two nephews, Christopher Murphy of Truro, Massachusetts, and Douglas Murphy and his wife Rita, of Chula Vista, California, her two nieces, Nancy Chapman and Beth Chapman of Scituate, Massachusetts, and her three grand nieces and grand nephew, Alyssa Murphy, Megan Murphy Armitage, Nicholas Kleshinski and Lucy Kleshinski. Julie was born on September 20, 1937 in Boston, Massachusetts to Beatrice and George Costanza. She graduated from Girls’ Latin School (currently Boston Latin Academy) in 1955 and from Jackson College of Tufts University in 1959 with a B.A. in Romance Languages. Later in life, Julie returned to school and obtained her Master’s in Library Science from Southern Connecticut State University. She went on to work as a librarian at the University of Hartford and the Hartford College for Women. Julie loved art and spent many years as a docent at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, CT. She had a life long love of the beach and grew up going to Carson Beach in South Boston. She shared this love with her family during many years of family vacations on Nantucket and Cape Cod. Julie will also be remembered fondly for her warmth, welcoming hospitality and love of cats. A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10:00 am with a reception following at Saint Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant St. in West Hartford, CT.
