Harold R. Fenton Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Harold R. Fenton, 99, of Bloomfield, passed away on Saturday February 23, 2019. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Harold and Mabel (Seery) Fenton. The devoted husband of the late Julia Fenton, together they lovingly raised 5 children. Harold was a 1936 graduate of Simsbury High School. A 75 year resident of Bloomfield, he was a local building contractor and built many homes in and around Bloomfield as well as the original Bloomfield Town Center, which included retail stores and the Post Office. He served on the Town Building Committee for the Library and was the Chairman of the Town Hall Building Committee. He also served as President of the Connecticut Chapter of the National Association of Home Builders. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish and served the Church and School on the Parish Council, Finance Committee and School Board. He lived by a set of values that he developed at a very young age including honesty, integrity and consideration of others above himself. With a smile and his signature greeting of “hi-ho”, his welcoming presence was appreciated by all those who crossed his path. Above all, he valued his relationship with family and friends and supported them selflessly throughout his life. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Richard and Joan Fenton of Brockport, NY, Stephen and Donna Fenton of Winchester, Kathy and Harry Reynolds of Windsor, William Fenton of West Yarmouth, MA and Thomas and Jane Fenton of Hebron; his grandchildren: Mark and Robert, Jennifer, Amy, Bill and Meg, Christopher, Michael, Luke, Bryan and Matthew, Kristen and Leah, Megan, Chelsea, and Jakob and 23 great grandchildren. Along with his wife Julia, he is predeceased by their infant daughter Mary Elizabeth, his brother Andrew and his sister Mary. His life will be celebrated by a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, March 1, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Parish, 26 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield. His burial will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery. Friends may call on his family on Thursday, February 28, from 3-6 p.m. at Sacred Heart Parish.
