Gennaro Anthony Russo, Jr. passed away peacefully on April 5, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of Eileen K. Russo and the late Gennaro A. Russo. Born January 4, 1958, he attended St. Joseph Cathedral School, St. Thomas Seminary and University of Hartford. While at St. Thomas Seminary he excelled in many sports and was awarded Allstate Conference in basketball. He went on to play basketball at University of Hartford. Jerry attended Norwood Institute in Michigan to further his knowledge in the automotive industry. And went on to work many years in the automotive business. Later he settled into his true passion as a private contractor. He is survived by his Mother, Eileen K. Russo, and his 6 children Angela and her significant other Jeremiah King, Christopher, Michael, Hilary Russo and her husband Benjamin Cameron, Rachel, and Carla and his grandchildren Jeremiah, Tyler, Maddox, Angelina, and Isabella. He also leaves behind his six siblings, Mary-Beth and her spouse Jill Carey, Rosemary and her husband Lee Pearlman, Anthony, Meg and her significant other Bill Mangan, Ann and her spouse Talbott Manolis, and John and his spouse Paula. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He leaves his longtime friend Laura Day, and former wife and mother of his children Adriana Tine. In addition to his father he was predeceased by an infant son. Jerry was known for his captivating storytelling, his exceptional work ethic, and most of all his love of antiques. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 140 Farmington Ave., Hartford. Burial will be private. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Cathedral of St. Joseph Food Pantry, 140 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT 06115 in Jerry’s name.
