Dianne Roux Hoelzer

April 15, 2016

Dianne Hoelzer (Roux), beloved wife and mother, passed away April 15, 2016. Born February 16, 1960 in the college town of Urbana, IL (University of Illinois) where teaching became a passion. After graduating from the University of Illinois, she started her teaching career at a private school in Dallas, Texas. In 1985 she chose to stay close to her family and left Texas for Connecticut where she brought her amazing skills to the Burlington, CT school system for the next 5 years followed by West Hartford Public Schools. During her time teaching in Connecticut she received her Master's in Education providing additional opportunities to teach and serve. After having her daughter Katie, she took some time off to raise her and went back to part time teaching at Bethany Lutheran Church. Once again driven by family and a desire to work with children, she taught nursery school age children, including 2 nephews, as well as hundreds of other children before leaving unexpectedly due to her diagnosis of AML (Leukemia) in mid-March of 2016. Dianne's selfless approach to life, which she inherited from her equally generous father, surrounded her with love and compassion as she headed toward the unknown of cancer treatment. Her impact on those around her did not slow down as her body began to feel the effects of intense chemo and an acceleration in the cancer. As a faithful follower of Christ, she displayed a loving care to every single person that came across her path. Doctors, nurses, assistants, and the facilities staff at St. Francis Hospital felt her impact in the short time she spent with them. When Dianne was not using her God given skills for education, she brought her discipline and organizational skills to work in her husband's business, the flower garden, and of course in her meticulously kept and clean home. The only thing that came close to her love of those around her was her love of Labrador retrievers. She is pre-deceased by her father Edward Roux and brother, Mark Edward Roux. She is survived by her husband Mark and daughter Katie of Simsbury as well as her mother Alvina Roux of Farmington older brother Stan Roux, wife Kathy and their children Justin, Nicholas, Daniel, and Kristen of Chesterfield, MO, and younger brother Steve Roux and his wife Carri and their children Nathan, Edison, and Luke of Farmington. Calling hours are at The Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave, West Hartford on Friday (April 22nd) from 4pm - 6:30pm. Memorial service will be Saturday (April 23rd) at 9:30am at Dianne's Church, Bethany Lutheran Church, 1655 Boulevard West Hartford. In Lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital c/o Bethany Lutheran Church, 1655 Boulevard, West Hartford, CT 06107 or directly to St. Jude's : http://giftfunds.stjude.org/diannehoelzer
