Claire Tamkin was born in NYC in 1921 and was the beloved daughter of Maria (Parisi) and Emmanuel Tufo. She was married in 1951 to the late Robert Tamkin. She has been a resident of West Hartford for over 45 years. Claire is survived by her beloved children, Daniel Tamkin, June Tamkin-Price, son-in-law, Ken Price, granddaughter, Michelle Judge, husband, Michael Judge, their son Nathan (great grandson) and grandson, Ken Price, Jr. Claire was the beloved sister of Rose Caccaviello, nieces, Maria and Teresa Caccaviello, nephew, Paul Caccaviello and his wife, Karen, and their daughter Grace (grandniece), special niece and nephew, Sally and Gar Zimmermann, niece, Mariann Tufo, and grandnephew, Nicholas Tufo. Our heartfelt thanks to all the special angels, Sisters of Mercy and family of close friends who have loved and cared for our Mother. We would also like to share our deep appreciation to St. Mary Home’s staff for their special care during this time. Claire loved her family dearly and also loved art, music, and dancing. She was the president of the family business for over 40 years. Later, she was fortunate to work for the Sisters of Mercy on the hospice ward at Mercyknoll. During that time, she attended courses in gerontology and hospice care at St. Joseph College. As a pastoral care minister, Sisters of Mercy Associate and Eucharistic Minister, she dedicated herself to Mercyknoll, St. Timothy’s Church and volunteer services. Funeral services will be Saturday, beginning with visitation at 9:30 a.m. in the Reception Room across from the Chapel at St. Mary Home, 2021 Albany Ave. West Hartford (3rd Floor). A Mass will follow in the Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
