Benjamin J. Kendziorski passed away on 6/9/17 in Winsted. Ben was born on 4/11/81 and was raised in West Hartford, attending several West Hartford schools, graduating from Hall High School in 2000. Growing up, he played hockey, won a gold medal in martial arts, and spent much time on his skateboard. He enjoyed his trips to California and Disneyworld with side trips to Ron Jon’s Surf shop for new skateboards. He was a lover of all animals including his dogs, Sparky and Ralph. He loved scouring the beaches of Cape Cod for marine animals and other adventures with his beach friends. He enjoyed spending time with his grandparents and cousins during summers in Alpena, Michigan. Ben attended the CT Culinary Institute. He became an accomplished gourmet chef working in many Connecticut restaurant including the Elbow Room and Amici’s as well as restaurants in Seattle. He took great pride in cooking for his friends and family who greatly enjoyed his gift. Ben graduated from Marine boot camp at Camp Lejeune on Parris Island in 11/05. Due to a back injury, he was unable to continue to serve his country. Ben became a power weight lifter focusing much time on building his body. Ben was very generous to his numerous friends that he met throughout the country through employment, AA/NA, the gym and the neighborhood. Ben struggled with learning disabilities and mental health issues throughout his life. At the time of his death, he had been seeking admission to a rehab facility for the past 4-6 weeks. He became hopeless and gave up the fight by taking his life. Ben is survived by his parents, David and Vicki Kendziorski of Yarmouthport, MA; his sister, Juliana Capozzoli of whom he was a fierce defender, and her husband, Anthony Capozzoli of Astoria, NY; Ben’s gift to the world, his precious daughter, Mary Kendziorski of Winsted; his loving partner, Michelle Grant and her children, Isaiah, Stonewell, Shera and Shyla as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins throughout the USA, Ben loved adventures to Highland Lake with the kids, teaching them how to swim. A memorial visitation will be held on 6/17 at Molloy Funeral Home 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford, from 2-4 pm with a sharing of memories from all from 4-5pm. The family request that all support improved access to mental health and addiction treatment. Donations may be made to; Connecticut Community For Addiction Recovery, 75 Charter Oak Avenue, Suite 1-305, Hartford, CT 06106 in Ben’s name.
