Timothy L. Turbert

Timothy L Turbert, 71, died after a brief illness on March 27, 2023, in New Port Richey, Florida. He grew up in the Hartford/ West Hartford area. He passed away in Morton Plant North Bay Hospital. One day I walked with Tim up onto a Blue Blazed Trail. The hike was quiet and still as we passed under evergreen trees, the soft earth absorbing sound and footsteps. After a while something brushed against our boots as we strode, and we looked down. The ground was covered with blossoming ladyslipper orchids. We looked at each other and our eyes widened. It was like finding money. We laughed out loud while looking at the pink flowers all around us. After, Tim’s laughter could be hear occasionally as we made our way home. Tim decided life would be more manageable as a friend of Bill. He was loyal to the fellowship since 1982. Memories and stories accrued about the Danny Ryan meetings and the friendships he developed there. It was the same for him in Florida. He found a welcome at The Dry Dock; it was a sociable resource and a chance to grow and mature. He valued his companions there including Rob Mobly and Yvonne Graham. Our young brother always could be found trying to do good for others. He fashioned a metal basket onto his bicycle, big enough to carry a few grocery bags to some Mexican families. He brought toys and games to the little ones, and liked seeing the joy and innocent laughter in their children. Tim was the youngest of five children, but who predeceases all of us. He was the son of Edward J Turbert Jr. and Claire McCue Turbert. His siblings left to mourn him are: Edward J Turbert III (Mary F.), W Hartford; Claire Turbert Merkle (Gerhard), Wethersfield; Mark Turbert (Lydia) Tucson, AZ; James C Turbert (Susan), W Hartford. Also left are nieces and a nephew: Mary Claire Roberts (Nigel), Andrea E Williams (Omar), Erin Vecsey (Matthew), James Turbert Jr, (Marleen) and Tara Kramek. Eight grandnieces and grandnephews have lost him as well. There will be an hour to call on family Wednesday April 26, 2023, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at Molloy’s Funeral Home 906 Farmington Ave. Farmington Avenue West Hartford. Following will be a funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St Thomas the Apostle Church 872 Farmington Ave. West Hartford, and interment at Fairview Cemetery. If you are unable to attend, please make a little prayer for Tim.
