Silvia Donato Marusi

Silvia Donato Marusi 97 of Bloomfield CT died March 19 2024, with family by her side. Silvia was born in Philadelphia PA July 7 1926 to Fiorentino Donato and Silvia (Berecca) Donato. She is pre deceased by her parents, her brother Robert and husband Gene, to whom she was married for 51 years. As a young mother with her first child, she moved to Bogota Colombia, for her husband’s business. After 10 years, they moved back to the US with 4 children and settled in Manhasset NY. She left Long Island to move to Duncaster in Bloomfield CT in 2018. She belonged to the North Hempstead Country Club, the Flower Hill Womans Club, and the American Legion. She also volunteered her time whenever needed. She played golf, tennis and was an avid bridge player. She was a consummate entertainer and an incredible cook. She loved to travel. A three month tour of Europe, just before moving back to the States, and where she had a audience with the pope. Several cruises with friends, back to Bermuda, where she honey mooned, California, Canada and Mexico. She also took great delight in watching her kids, grandkids and great grandkids in any sporting events and many graduations. She loved her family and left quite a legacy. She is mourned by her children, Victoria Butler and husband Ted, Lawrence Marusi, Christina Rand and husband John, and Robert Marusi and wife Beth. She also leaves her grandchildren Brian Butler and wife Catherine, Christina Slitt and husband Brian, Jean Nickerson and husband Morgan, Lauren Carter and husband Michael, Alexandra Rand, Margaux Kontos and husband Steve, James Marusi and Ryan Marusi. She also leaves her great grandchildren, Peter Butler, Jack Butler, Logan Slitt, Cayden Slitt, Emma Nickerson, Lily Nickerson, Grace Nickerson, Sienna Carter, Leila Carter and Olivia Kontos. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Everyone she came in contact with loved her and they mourn her as well. We would like to thank the caregivers at Duncaster/Caleb Hitchcock for the great care they provided which kept her happy, engaged and mobil until the end. There will be a memorial mass at St Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant St, West Hartford on April 27 at 10am. Reception to follow at the Hartford Golf Club at 11:30am.
