Roxanne Cave

Roxanne Cook Cave of West Hartford, passed away after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease on Sunday, August 3, 2014. Born in 1931 and raised in Hartford, she was the daughter of Inez Brainerd Cook and Charles B. Cook Jr. Roxanne graduated from Hall High School in 1949 and from Skidmore College, class of '53. Roxanne was the loving wife of Richard H. Cave for 61 years. Meeting as children, they began dating in high school and were married in 1953. She had a lifelong passion for philanthropy and the arts, especially the opera, ballet, and symphony. She had a zest for gardening and sewing, and adorned their house with her beautiful needlework over the years. Roxanne was an inspiration to her children: Debby Higgins and her husband Jim; Rick Cave and his wife Kathy; and Alan Cave and his wife Ann. She adored her grandchildren: Matthew Higgins and his wife Christine, Kevin Higgins, Sean Higgins, Robert Cave, Kelly Cave, Austin Cave and Madison Cave. Roxanne is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren. A loving and caring person, she will always be remembered for her sense of humor, love of colorful gardens, songbirds, family gatherings, bridge club, her Hallmark movies, and her delicious home-made hot fudge sauce. Over the years Roxanne was involved in charitable work aimed at Hartford's inner city youth and recently created a community college scholarship fund for at-risk youth.
