Rose-Ann E. Abare

Rose-Ann E. Abare passed away on February 28, 2021. She was born on August 3, 1957 in Winchendon, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of the late Rosemarie and Norman Abare, Sr whose love and perseverance gave Rose a wonderful life. Rose lived most of her life in Winchendon. She attended St. Coletta's School in Hanover and spent time at summer camp in Baldwinville. As an adult, she spent many happy years working at the North Central ARC day program. But, her happiest days were spent with her family. As the oldest of Rosemarie and Norman’s six children, Rose relished watching her siblings perform in theatre productions, often memorizing their lines and singing the songs for years to come. Rose loved riding her bike in the neighborhood, stopping for an iced tea and going for a swim in the family pool. She enjoyed family trips to Walt Disney World, Bermuda, Maine, Prince Edward Island, Cape Cod, and Nantucket. Rose enjoyed concerts and special events and looked forward to going to a play or a restaurant with her Aunt Marilyn. Always an avid music fan, she never forgot the words to a song, particularly one sung by Barry Manilow. Rose was also a loving aunt to her 6 nieces and 7 nephews, attending birthday parties, Baptisms, First Communions, sporting events, and relaying countless stories about them. In later years, Rose enjoyed shopping trips and daily outings to Wal-Mart, DeMoula's, Silver Ranch, Papa Gino's and McDonald's as one of the inseparable “Three Musketeers,” with her mom and dad. She would routinely fill her shopping cart with gifts for her nieces and nephews, being sure to tell the cashier exactly who the items were for. Rose had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. Being kind came naturally to Rose, and she never shied away from telling her family, friends, or someone she just met, how much she loved them. Rose-Ann was predeceased by her parents, Rosemarie and Norman Abare, Sr., and by her sister, Joan Marchi. She is survived by her sister Mary Lenehan and her husband Kevin of Cheshire; her sister Helen Liguori and her husband Mike of Pittsburgh; her brother-in-law Brian Marchi of Somers; her brother Norman Abare and his wife Jenna of West Hartford and her sister Kathryn O'Connell and her husband Greg of West Hartford; as well as nieces and nephews Kathryn Keenan and her husband Ryan, Kevin Lenehan and his wife Justine, Patrick Lenehan and his wife Julia, Elena Liguori, Cecilia Liguori, Lucia Liguori, Regina Liguori, Michael Liguori, Connor Marchi, Joseph O'Connell, Timothy O'Connell, Caroline O'Connell and Zachary Abare. She also leaves behind her aunt Marilyn Abare, aunt Theresa Smith, uncle Leo Smith, and many loving cousins. Funeral services will be Saturday, at 10:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Ave. West Hartford, CT.
