Robert A. Roveto

Robert Alan Roveto, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10th, 2026, at the age of 66, in his South Windsor home surrounded by family. Born in Rochester, NY, the son of the late Vincent and Yolanda (Petruccelli) Roveto, Rob led a life full of love, sportsmanship, and family dedication. A proud alumnus of Irondequoit High School in Rochester, where his talents shone on the sports field, Rob continued his athletic journey at Mitchell College. His exceptional skills earned him a place in the Hall of Fame for both baseball and basketball. His passion for baseball flourished at Eastern Connecticut State University, and played a pivotal role in securing a National Title. It was at Eastern that he met his wife Karen. He was proud when his son Bill played and shared his love of baseball and basketball at Eastern. For over 30 years, Rob dedicated himself to the auto glass sales industry, forging strong connections with colleagues and customers alike. His professional commitments were rivaled only by his love for sports and coaching. Rob cherished coaching his son's little league and youth sports teams, instilling values of teamwork and perseverance in each young athlete. A devoted fan of the Yankees, Giants, and UConn sports, his enthusiasm for all sports was infectious. When he wasn’t home, he could be found on a golf course spending time with friends. Yet, his most treasured role was that of "Pop Pop" to his cherished grandchildren, Leighton and Charlotte Dooley. Known for his kind heart and readiness to help friends and family, Robert's legacy will live on in the smiles and achievements of those he held dear. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Karen (Smith) Roveto, and their two children, Bill, and Ashley and her husband Jake Dooley. He leaves behind his adored grandchildren, Leighton and Charlotte, his mother-in-law Alicia Smith, and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Tracy and Kevin Walsh, along with their children Taylor and Brennan, and Kelly and Mike Krok, and their two children Aidan and Megan. His extended family and innumerable friends will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his sister, Maria Roveto, and his father-in-law, William Smith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Robert's honor on Friday, May 15th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Rd., South Windsor. Family and friends are invited to attend and honor his life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, a cause close to Robert's heart. Arrangements are being handled by Molloy Funeral Home. Robert will be dearly missed, but his spirit will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
