Robert H. Barley

Robert H. Barley, 61, of West Hartford died peacefully and with his family at his side on Monday, September 24 in Hartford Hospital after a valiant battle with cancer. Bob was born on February 16, 1946 in Milford, Connecticut, to Grace and Howard Barley. He lived his young life in Milford graduating from Jonathan Law High School. He completed a degree in Insurance at the University of Connecticut where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and went on to earn an MBA from the University of Hartford. After serving in the active Army Bob served another 20 years in the 826th Military Intelligence Battalion as a Lt. Colonel in the Reserves.Bob, MBA, CLU was a Vice President of ING Financial Services. He was an avid fisherman, baseball card collector and enjoyed antiquing. Bob was a devoted loving husband, father, son and grandfather who found great pleasure in and was very proud of his family. He will be remembered for his kind heartedness and loyalty.He is survived by his loving wife, Tag and mother, Grace, his son Kevin and his wife Sheilah, his daughter Amanda and his grandson Luke. In addition he will be remembered by his extended family Maureen Curran, the Seidler?s, the Raffa?s and Erin Rogers and numerous cousins. Education has a presence in the Barley family. At ING, Bob worked in the fields of higher education and new emerging markets. His wife is also a teacher at Classical Magnet School in Hartford. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Community Services Inc. c/0 Classical Magnet School, 85 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT 06103. Donations will be used to provide a scholarship for Classical Magnet students entering a 4 year college program.Friends, family, and colleagues are welcome to join the family for viewing hours and funeral service at Molloy Funeral Home 906 Farmington Avenue West Hartford. Viewing hours are Thursday 4pm-8pm. The Funeral Service will be held Molloy Funeral Home the next day, Friday, at noon. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Pond House Café in Elizabeth Park, 1555 Asylum Avenue West Hartford from 1pm-4pm. We encourage those that wish to celebrate Bob?s life to attend.
