Patricia C. Welch

Patricia C. Welch, lovingly known to many as Pat or simply Nana, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, at UConn Hospital in Farmington, Connecticut, at the remarkable age of 100. Patricia was truly everyone’s Nana. Loving, gentle, and endlessly kind, she had a way of making everyone feel welcome. She was deeply social and always delighted in visitors—both human and animal alike. Patricia found joy in simple, beautiful moments: visiting the library and picking out a good book to read, watching the leaves change with the seasons, and seeing flowers bloom. Above all else, she cherished her family and was unwavering in her love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Patricia was a proud graduate of Saint Joseph College for Women in West Hartford. She began her career as an elementary school teacher at Whiting Lane School in West Hartford. After having children, she devoted herself fully to raising her family before returning to the workforce as a life underwriter at Aetna. Her dedication, work ethic, and quiet strength were evident throughout her life. A woman of deep faith, Patricia was a devoted and proud member of Saint Patrick–Saint Anthony Church in Hartford, where her faith remained a guiding presence. Patricia is survived by her children, Michael Welch, Mary Ellen Welch, and Ann Walsh and her husband, Robert Masino. She was a beloved grandmother to Edward B. Anderson Jr. and his wife, Mary Ellen Anderson; Shira Schwartz and her husband, Scott Schwartz; Caitlyn Johannesen and her husband, Daniel Johannesen; Daniel Walsh and his wife, Chelsea Weiss; Emily Walsh; and Aidan Walsh. She was a cherished great-grandmother to Ezra Schwartz, son of Shira and Scott, and Poppy Johannesen, daughter of Caitlyn and Daniel. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Patrick–Saint Anthony Church, located at 285 Church Street, Hartford, CT 06103.Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. A Celebration of Life luncheon, hosted by Patricia’s family, will follow the burial at Market Place Kitchen & Bar, located at 336 West Main Street, Avon, CT. Family and friends are encouraged to bring happy memories and stories to share in honor of Patricia’s beautiful life. In lieu of flowers, Patricia would have preferred donations to Saint Patrick–Saint Anthony Church in her memory or simply performing a good deed and showing kindness to others in her honor.
