Patricia H. Forbes

Patricia Jeanne Hope Forbes, widow of William E. Forbes, died Sunday April 18th at her home with her family at her side. She was born June 5th 1930 to Mr. and Mrs. J. William Hope and raised in Fairfield CT. Patricia attended Sacred Heart Convent in Noroton, CT and graduated Suma Cum Laude from Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in New York City. On Oct 25, 1952 Patricia married William E. Forbes and they lived in Larchmont New York before eventually settling in New Canaan, CT where they resided for 54 years. In 1967 Patricia earned her Masters degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport. Patricia was very active with volunteering for the Women's Junior League, St. Aloysius Church, and numerous other charitable organizations. Two years she served as Chairman of the New Canaan Outdoor Art Show. She directed scripture interpretation for ten years and then taught Christian Initiation for Adults for fifteen years. She was a founding member of the New Canaan Field Club and served on their Board of Directors. She served on the Board of Directors for the Fairfield County United Way and served as Chairman of the Board for Child and Family Services of Danbury/Norwalk. Pat was an avid duplicate bridge player. Pat and Bill enjoyed traveling to Bermuda with friends, watching a moon rise at the beach, having parties in their back yard, and being members of Woodway Country Club. Her most recent joy was spending time with her entire family and most specially her great granddaughter. Pat is survived by her six children. Bill and his wife Debbie of Bristol, CT; Matthew of Decatur, AL; Pat and her husband Brit of Midland, TX; Chris and his wife Carol of West Hartford, CT; Michelle and her friend Bob of West Hartford, CT; Michael and his wife Laura of Stamford, CT; Seven grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. Pat leaves two sisters; Justine and her husband Tom of Trumbull, CT and Rosemary of Florida; and many loving nieces and nephews. She will be missed by the wonderful friends from her years in New Canaan and the host of friends she made in the short time she lived in West Hartford. Funeral services will be Wednesday April 21, 2010 with the Celebration of her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Peter Claver Church 47 Pleasant St. West Hartford. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-7 pm at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford. Burial will be Thursday at 11:00 am in Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan.
