Naum Z. Gupper

Naum Z. Gupper, 102, of West Hartford, beloved husband of Roza Lundina of over 77 years passed away Saturday August 8, 2026 at St. Francis hospital after a short illness. Born in Pereyaslav Khmelnitsky, Ukraine, son of the late Zelman and Leya (Brudner) Gupper, Naum immigrated to the United States in 1993 and lived in West Hartford ever since. A World War II veteran, he was wounded in the battle against Nazis in 1942. His left elbow was shattered by German sniper’s bullet. After lengthy treatment and recovery, he was discharged from the military. Naum graduated with honors from an engineering college in Russia in 1947 with a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering and started his career as an engineer. He held several engineering assignments with more and more responsibilities. Eventually Naum was promoted in 1956 to become a chief engineer of a machine building factory in charge of more than 2000 employees. He served in that capacity until retirement some 22 years later. Besides his wife Roza, he leaves two sons, Vladimir of West Hartford and Alexander with his wife Ludmila, also of West Hartford, a granddaughter Natasha Erickson and her husband Kyle Erickson of West Hartford, and two great grand grandchildren, Alexander and Annalise. Naum was deeply involved in development of the factory in central Ukraine and surrounding village during his time as a chief engineer. Under his guidance a small machinery repair facility became a powerful machine building company that exported its production in dozens of European and Asian countries. In his spare time, he loved gardening and traveling with his family. Photography was his lifelong passion and he put together many photo albums reflecting lives of several generations of the Gupper and Lundin families, both in Ukraine and later in the US. Funeral Service will be Thursday at 10:30 am at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford. Burial will follow in Beth Israel Cemetery, 51 Jackson St. Avon.
