Mary M. Gallagher

Mary Margaret Morrissey Gallagher, 54, departed this life Monday, November 28, 2005. She was born in Dedham, MA. the daughter of Thomas and Mary Baird Morrissey. She graduated from Dedham High School in 1969. She then went on to become a registered nurse, having graduated from the Boston City Hospital School of Nursing in 1972. She stayed on at Boston City Hospital where she distinguished herself as a recovery room nurse through her leadership and excellent clinical nursing skills. Her career as a nurse took her as far north as Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY and as far south as the University Hospital in Gainesville, FL. She also worked at the Veterans Hospital in Newington. Mary obtained a bachelors degree from Central Connecticut State University in accounting. She was an avid reader, cook and patron of the arts. She put aside her nursing career in 1989 when she gave birth to her beloved son Michael Joseph. From that point on she devoted herself to being the outstanding mother that she was. Her caring and love for him, and his for her, are what made their relationship so special. She was predeceased by her brother Bill. In addition to her parents and son, those she leaves to cherish her memory include her sisters Susan Clawson and Kathleen Lloyd, her brother Thomas Morrissey, her nephews and nieces Bill, Nick, Shawn, Dan, Kevin, Danielle and Moira. She also leaves behind the Narwold family, parents Bill and Nancy and their children Charlie, Will, and Elizabeth who took her into their hearts and home as if she were part of their family. Other close friends include Susan Ely, Bernadette Hirst, and Margaret Szerejko who were all there for her in her in her time of need. She leaves too her former husband, Robert Gallagher, who will remember her fondly always. Her funeral will be Friday December 2, 2005 at 9:30 am from the Molloy Funeral Home 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Peter Claver Church 47 Pleasant St. West Hartford. Burial will be private at a later date. Friends and family may call on Thursday from 4-8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to West Hartford Library Foundation 20 South Main St. West Hartford, CT 06107
