Mary Guglielmo

Mary (MacDonnell) Guglielmo, 89, of West Hartford died peacefully at home with her beloved family at her bedside on Sunday March 23, 2014. Mary was born August 12,1924 at home in North Weymouth, Massachusetts one of nine children of the late Angus D. and Malvena E. (Fougere) MacDonnell. Mary came to West Hartford in 1942 to work at Hilliard’s Candy Shop in West Hartford Center. She met the late Pat (Pasquale) Guglielmo the proprietor of the Center Barber Shop, they married in 1945, and had six children. Mary and her sons Philip and Patrick own the Farmington Miniature Golf and Ice Cream Parlor. Mary was a cheerful, thoughtful, energetic, and loving person, and also a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, who used to love to take driving trips with her husband and children to visit her family in the Boston area and in later years they would take road trips to Colorado to visit several children and grandchildren. Mary always welcomed all relatives and their families to her house at Outlook Ave whether it be for a few hours or a several day stay over. Mary is survived by her sister Barbara and her husband Edward McLeod of Akron, PA and was predeceased by Jane Stewart, John MacDonnell, Leonard MacDonnell, Malvena Cangiano, Margaret Burns, twin sister Cecelia Hynes, and son-in-law Kenny Chambers. Mary leaves two daughters Patricia M. Chambers of Basalt, CO and Joanie Storey Guglielmo of Basalt, CO and four sons Peter R. and his wife Linda of Basalt, CO, Paul D. and his wife Amy of Branford, CT, Philip J. of Farmington, CT, and Patrick A. and Sally of East Hartford. “Nanny” also leaves behind seven loving grandchildren, Andy Storey of Los Angeles, CA, Cody Storey of Los Angeles, CA, Brett Guglielmo of Basalt, CO, Brittani Guglielmo of Basalt, CO, Hailey Guglielmo of Basalt, CO, August Guglielmo of Branford, CT and Pasquale Guglielmo of East Hartford, CT. “Auntie Mary” also leaves numerous loving nieces and nephews and their families. Friends and family may call at Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave on Wednesday, Mar 26 from 5-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 110 Main St, Farmington, CT on Thursday Mar. 27th @ 10:30am and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Family and friends are invited back to the family home on Outlook Ave after the funeral. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Associations (www.alz.org).
