With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Martha A. McGowan on July 18, 2026, at the age of 61, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on October 5, 1964, Martha lived a life defined by love, resilience, and kindness. Although she faced lifelong health challenges, she will be remembered for her gentle heart, warm smile, and the joy she found in everyday life. One of the greatest blessings of Martha's life was her devoted relationship with David Michaud, her loving partner of nearly 50 years. Together, they built a lifetime of cherished memories, unwavering companionship, and unconditional love that inspired everyone who knew them. Martha was a devoted Boston Red Sox and Hartford Whalers fan who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her favorite teams. She also loved bowling, where she enjoyed spending time with friends and celebrating every strike and spare. More than anything, Martha treasured time with her family. Her quiet strength, gentle spirit, and loving heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Martha is survived by her devoted partner of nearly 50 years, David Michaud; her brother, Mark McGowan, and his wife, Chrissy, and their children, Maddie, Chris, and Greg; her sister, Theresa McGowan; her brother, Greg McGowan, and his wife, Ann, and their children, Olivia, Riley, and Mason; and her brother, Joe McGowan, and his wife, Meghan, and their children, Tanner, Janey, Quinlan, and Margaret. The family wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to the many physicians, nurses, caregivers, and hospice staff whose compassion, kindness, and dedication brought comfort to Martha throughout her life, especially during her final days. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Martha's journey ended peacefully and that she is now free from pain. Martha taught everyone who knew her that a life is measured not by the challenges we face, but by the love we give and receive. To know Martha was to love her. She reminded us that joy can be found in life's simplest moments—a Red Sox game, a day at the bowling alley, cheering on the Whalers, a laugh with family, or simply being with the people she loved. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Martha's life during visiting hours on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford.
