Margot O'Meara Egan

Margot (Marguerite) O’Meara Egan passed away peacefully at her home in West Hartford on November 26th. She was 90 years old. Margot was predeceased by her beloved husband Paul. She is survived by her daughter Sarah Hebert and husband David of Glastonbury, sons Matthew Egan and wife Dana of Hebron and Peter Egan and wife Jessica of West Hartford. She was also the very proud grandmother of eight grandchildren: Brendan, Sean and Caroline Hebert, Sadie and Charlotte Egan and Seamus, Graham and Clara Egan. Margot was born on April 24,1934 to Dr. William and Marguerite O’Meara of West Hartford. She attended St. Thomas the Apostle School and then went on to attend Regis College where she earned her teaching degree. After graduation she moved to Boston to begin her career and loved every minute of her years there. Margot deeply loved her family, friends and neighbors and was always keeping up with the latest in her grandchildren’s lives. Margot loved spending time at the beach; whether it was a day at the Rhode Island shore, a few weeks on Nantucket with her family or her yearly trips to Bermuda with Paul. A persistent social butterfly, Margot loved bouncing around town, working retail in West Hartford Center at Comina and was an active member of many social clubs including The West Hartford Garden Club, Investment Club and her book group. Among her other interests were her monthly trips to NYC, attending shows at the Hartford Stage Company and Theater Works and yoga classes at Healthtrax. She had a deep faith and was an active member of St. Peter Claver Church where she enjoyed attending Sunday Mass, teaching religious education, and making sandwiches for the less fortunate. She also enjoyed volunteering at The House of Bread in Hartford and teaching English as a second language. A funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be held at the Church of St. Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant Street in West Hartford on Thursday, December 5th at 12:00 pm. Everyone is asked to proceed directly to the church. Burial will follow the mass at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
