Kathleen E. Cermola

Kathleen Elaine (O’Connor) Cermola, 80, beloved wife of Ernest P. Cermola, of West Hartford, died Friday, March 24, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Michael and Josephine (Geary) O’Connor, she made her home in West Hartford for the past 58 years. Kathy graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy and worked for the Hartford Insurance in the Education Department until her retirement in 2001. She was a parishioner of St. Brigid Church and was active in their Ladies Guild. Kathy loved reading and cooking meals for her family especially holiday meals. A loving and nurturing woman, she will be missed by those she loved. Above all else, Kathy put family first. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother. Always wanting to babysit or attend a sporting event and always the one behind the wheel with her husband happily navigating. He found great comfort in her driving abilities. Besides her husband of 57 years, she is survived by her three children, Kathleen Mancuso-Cermola and her partner Karen of Southington, Mary Beth Kennedy and her husband Philip of Burlington, John Cermola and his wife Belinda of Sterling, VA.; Gee-Gee will be missed by her six grandchildren, Alicia, Kaitlyn, Connor, Collin, Austin and Jordan. She also leaves two sisters, Pauline Bieluch and Marilyn Keefe. She was predeceased by her brother John O’Connor. The family would like to thank the Staff at St. Francis Hospital and a special thank you to Dr Gregory Walsh for their care and guidance during this difficult time. Calling hours will be Monday, March 27th from 4-7p.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 28th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Brigid Church, 1088 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
