Josephine Frances Mihalick

Josephine (Scavetta) Mihalick of Middletown, RI formally of West Hartford, CT entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 6th, 2019. Born in Hartford, CT she was the daughter of the late Mary (Chiarizio) & Rocco Scavetta. She was a graduate of Weaver High School and found her true passion, nursing, at Hartford Hospital School of Nursing. She devoted most of her career to geriatric nursing until she retired at the age of 80. She is reunited in heaven with her husband Edward Mihalick, whom she spent 64 loving years with. Josephine is survived by her beloved daughter Mary Ellen Frazier and her husband Walter of Middletown, RI, her precious granddaughter Stephanie Frazier Grimm and her husband Paul and her 2 great grandchildren Carter and Ellie Grimm also of Middletown, RI who were the light of her life. We know she is hosting her first dinner party in heaven with her sisters and brother; Toot, Pet, Dan, Irene, Ann, Chrissy, Liz, Mary & Angie for they are all together once again. When Josie was not comforting her patients, she took pride in her relationship with her daughter, cared for and cheered on her granddaughter any chance she got , spending family vacations on Cape Cod, writing hand written letters to friends and family, cleaning her home, following her faith and hosting parties for her many siblings and in laws…no one ever left her table hungry. Josie loved to write and we will cherish the many notes she has left us. We share some of her wisdom with you, “ I will travel to heaven empty- handed. There is not a single thing I have collected in my life that I would ever want to bring except the love of those who loved me and the warmth of those who cared. The happiness and memories and many laughs that we have shared. I will cherish all the friendships I was fortunate to find. All the love and laughter in the place I left behind. I will always wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. Lift up your hearts, and peace to thee, God wanted me, now he set me free.” Her family is grateful for the staff of St. Clare Nursing Home (Val, Cherryne, Cassandra & Shannon) who cared for, laughed with and listened to her MANY nursing stories and her love of her Italian heritage. Friends and Family are invited to celebrate her life on Tuesday, August 13th, 2019 at 10am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church located at 872 Farmington Ave, West Hartford, CT. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford. There are no calling hours.
