Helen Haley

Helen Denton Haley, 76, a long time resident of Bloomfield and beloved wife of Duane F. Haley for 53 years passed away on Friday, February 22, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital after a courageous fight against the illness Pulmonary Fibrosis. Helen was born in Bridgeport, CT on March 9, 1931. She is the daughter of John Elms Denton and Helen "Nel" McNiff Denton. Helen's life was dedicated to raising her 4 children. As she raised her children she found time for many loved activities such as golf, paddle tennis, bowling and gardening. Her love of flowers led her to the Dunland Woods Garden Club where she became president. Also Helen won many 1st prize ribbons for her beautiful floral arrangements. In Helen's later years she and Duane traveled to South Carolina for the month of March. The most enjoyable times in Helen's life were visits from her children and grandchildren. Helen is survived by her husband Duane F. Haley and 4 children: her son Duane J. Haley and his wife Kathryn of Indianapolis, IN and their five children Mackenzie, Thomas, Samuel, Maryann Rose, and Anthony, son John D. Haley and his wife Mimi of Charleston, SC and their 2 children Emma and Carter, her daughter Elizabeth Howard and her husband Scott of Littleton, MA and their 3 children Meghan, Alyssa and son Ian, her daughter Mary Kate Farrington and husband William of Cape Cod and their 3 sons Daniel, Patrick, and Sean, her brother William Denton of Bridgeport. She was predeceased by her sister Mary Lou Leiby. A celebration of Helen's life will begin with calling hours on Thursday February 28 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday February 29 at 10:00 am. at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave, Bloomfield. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield. Following the burial a reception will be held at Wintonbury Hills Golf Club, Terry Plains Rd., Bloomfield. Donation in her memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
