Gwen Elizabeth Sibley

Gwen Elizabeth Sibley, 79, of Bloomfield, found eternal rest on March 15, 2021. She was the daughter of Frederic Henry Sibley and Kathleen Mae Farrell, born in New Britain, CT, on November 7, 1941. She cherished her family, hosting a tradition of family vacations on Cape Cod for decades. Gwen attended St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York and graduated from the University of Hartford with a degree in psychology. After her graduation, she worked for CIGNA as an underwriter, and then finished her career at the Metropolitan District Commission as a training specialist. Gwen will be remembered for her gregarious nature, beautiful smile, her love of travel, and her life long involvement in the performing arts. She was a member of the Farmington Valley Chorus, and a charter member of the Sound of New England Chorus of West Hartford, where she participated in regional and international competitions. Her outgoing personality, love of writing, and confident nature made her a natural performer. Gwen particularly loved spending time with her grandchildren. She shared that love by attending countless sporting events, plays, and recitals. She also had a tradition of taking grandchildren traveling with her when they graduated from high school. Besides her parents, Fred and Kathleen, Gwen was predeceased by her brother; Frederic Junior. Gwen is survived by her sons Robert Volney Qua Jr., his wife Aimee Hendrigan; Patrick Dillon Qua, his wife Kathy Qua, and their children, Caitlin, Megan, and Brian; Jason Sibley Qua, his wife Rebecca Klein, their children, Gabriel, Georgia, and Hazel. Gwen is also survived by her sister Kathy Sibley, niece Nicole Mumford, husband Luciano Costa, sons Jonathan and Daniel, and daughter Caroline; her brother's wife, Kathleen Dalton, niece Stacy Sibley, husband Jay Ackerman, and sons, Braydon and Jonah. Gwen's family would like to thank the many wonderful nurses and patient care associates at Hartford Hospital, Conklin Building, Floor 2. They provided the bedrock of her care during the final months of her life. This past year has been an unprecedented time in the health care industry and they deserve our unreserved love and respect. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hartford Hospital CB2 Nursing Staff at the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center. Gwen's family will receive friends on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 4-7PM at Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06119. Funeral services will take place at the Church of St. Timothy 1116 N. Main St. West Hartford, CT at 10AM on Saturday. Masks and social distancing guidelines will be required to be maintained.
