Geraldine Smalley

Geraldine Smalley, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on Thursday, March 15th, 1934, in East Aurora, New York where she would meet her beloved late husband Jon Smalley, Geraldine and Jon moved in 1977 West Hartford, Connecticut, where she would spend the rest of her life and where she was cherished by those who knew her. Geraldine dedicated her life to caring for others as a nurse, a profession that perfectly matched her compassionate and empathetic spirit. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her professional life into her role as the heart of her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jon Smalley; her parents, Edward Wilkins and Mary Hendler; and her siblings, Kathleen and Richard. Despite these profound losses, Geraldine remained a beacon of strength and love for her family. Geraldine is survived by her sons, David Smalley and his wife Teresa of Southington, CT, and Douglas Smalley and his wife Angela of South Windsor, CT; her daughter-in-law Sandra Smalley of Maryland; and her cherished grandchildren Michael, Jonathan, and Emily, and a great grandson Grayson. She also leaves behind her dear sisters, Eileen and Joan, with whom she shared countless cherished memories. And many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by his son John M. Smalley A memorial service to honor Geraldine's remarkable life will be held on January 4, 2025, at 1 pm at St. James's Episcopal Church, located at 1018 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, CT 06107. The family invites all who knew Geraldine to celebrate her life, share stories, and find comfort in the community she so dearly loved. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. James's Episcopal Church, a place where Geraldine found solace and community. Arrangements are being made by Molloy Funeral Home. Geraldine's family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
