George Francis Molloy

George F. Molloy, 71, of Hartford CT, formerly of Manchester, NH, passed away unexpectedly on November 5, 2014, from complications related to his long-time heart issues. George was known as a fun, likable, caring man with a big heart who always had a joke, a funny story, or an irreverent comment to share, often telling them by talking out the side of his mouth and punctuating with sound effects and a facial expression so there was no misunderstanding as to how he felt. George was born and grew up in Hartford where he graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1961. He later moved to Manchester, NH where he raised his family with his former wife Veronica Caffrey Molloy before moving back to Hartford in the 1990’s. George worked for over 45 years for Curtis 1000 printing company where he appropriately and successfully applied his affable nature to sales and customer service. George was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks for many years, serving for a time as exalted ruler for Lodge 146 in Manchester, NH. George loved basketball, reading a good book, spending time with his grandkids and holding court from his seat at the Maple Cafe. He was well loved by many and will be deeply missed. George is survived by his five children Brigid Davis, Nora Molloy, Daniel Molloy, Mary Rioux and Michael Molloy, and their families, including his four grandchildren Katherine Davis and Amelia, Eleanor and Peter Rioux of NH; his sister Josephine Horan and his brothers James Molloy, Donal Molloy, Thomas Molloy and John Molloy as well as innumerable nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Noreen McCusker. Calling hours will be Sunday, November 9 from 3pm to 6pm at Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave in West Hartford, with an informal gathering of friends at The Maple Cafe on Maple Ave., Sunday evening. The funeral will be Monday, November 10, at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. A gathering of friends and family will be held in the church hall immediately following services. Burial will take place at Mount Saint Benedict’s Cemetery in Bloomfield, CT at 11am on Tuesday, November 11. The family wishes to extend deepest thanks to Dr. Melissa Ferraro-Borgida and all of the other Doctors and medical staff who provided him with a tremendous quality of care for many years.
