George Henry Durivage

DURIVAGE. George Henry Born in 1925 in Pittsfield, Mass. George Henry Durivage, “Hank” as he was known to his friends, lived a long and meaningful life. He passed away peacefully on November 25, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased in life by his parents Joseph Alfred Durivage and Marie Fournier, his step mother Marie Lucia Durivage, his daughter Yvette Durivage Bruneau and his siblings Gilbert, Ghislaine, Claudette and Guy, as well as his first wife Dorothy (Rourke) Durivage. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lois Durivage, 7 daughters: Susan Bedrick and husband Barry of Tucson, AZ, Yvonne Tafuto and her husband Lou of West Hartford, CT, Jeanne Du Rivage of Santa Fe, NM, Wendy Hibbard and her partner Carla Ramer of Alma, AR, Janet Kramer of Acworth, GA, Joyce Cardines and her husband Jeff of Newington CT, Irene Garneau and her husband Steve of West Hartford, CT, 11 grandchildren, Jason Hannigan and his partner Mary Painter, Dennis Bassett, Matthew Kramer, Jamie Tafuto and his wife Lauren , Daniel Kramer, David Kramer and his wife Michelle, Shawna Hibbard, Jennifer Cardines, Abby Garneu, Luke Garneau, Jake Cardines; 4 great grandchildren, Owen and Jo Jo Painter, and Anna and Will Tafuto; two sisters, Rose Horgan, Sally Suskowicz and his brother Paul Durivage and his wife Lillian. As a young man, he served in the sub-service in the Navy during World War II and he was proud to serve his country. He worked at Kaman Corporation as the Head of Engineering Records and after 42 years he enjoyed a 23-year retirement filled with travel and happy times with friends in Florida and CT. Hank found joy in camping, gardening, chopping wood, woodworking, horseshoes and being with his family. He believed that a life well lived included hard work and a loving family. He dedicated his life to his family and took pride in being a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be remembered with love and affection and missed by all. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at First Church of Christ Congregational, 12 South Main St., West Hartford. Burial will follow in Fairview cemetery with Military honors. Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford Donations in his memory can be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org and the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org
